Futminna transformers(The HIFL dream)
After the ball slipped from goalkeeper's gloves into the back of the net there was a void that engulfed the atmosphere for that very moment as the hopes of the Transformers was fading gradually, although a moment of sheer brilliance from talisman noble minutes later brought a raptorous array of ecstasy, fanfare, confidence but most importantly hope not just for the players but also the fans that crowded the gidan kwano campus soccer pitch that very day as the transformers needed only one goal to reach our first ever Higher institution football league[HIFL] final. It wasnt to be though as the UNIMAID desert warriors were the ones jubilating after the final whistle as the horror of the away goal rule hunted the transformers that day despite winning on home soil.
Well, that was all there is to our participation in the previous edition of the tournament as the Transformers also lost the 3rd place playoff. For everyone who watched the transformers that time will know the boys gave their all on every soil they stepped enroute the finals, they defiled many odds and as fate would have it the journey wasnt completed and the dream wasnt fulfilled.
But, WHAT STOPS THEM FROM DREAMING AGAIN?
THE HIFL DREAM
Over the years disappointments of elimination in group and knockout phases has fazed the transformers but last year's semi final berth is the closest they have gone to winning the silverware in recent times and this time around the young and hungry transformers has every reason to dream and not just any dream but DREAM BIG. They want to be champions.
The transformers although lost some major key players through graduation from the institution who played a major role to go as far in the last edition of the tournament but the head coach of the transformers[coach idris] and his coaching crew has built a team again deemed good and worthy enough to fulfill the dream. This team is not devoid of confidence at all as they will look to quickly put the disappointments of the NUGA EVENT earlier this year behind them and go for glory this time in the HIFL.
After the draws were made and it was confirmed that the Transformers will be facing a former foe for the second time this year in KSU STEELERS who they earlier faced in the PRE NUGA event both the players, the coaches and even the fans must have concluded that this team is a worthy opponent and will put the Transformers to a stern test.
Well, in as much as matches are won on the pitch, matches are also won on the touchline and the pavilions too. In esence, this is a call for all the players and the coaches to put all hands on deck and make it happen. The current ASUU strike doesnt give much room for fanbase but there will always be support from every angle both far and near but it all boils down to how committed the players are and the work they are willing to put in.
Everyone involved must know that dreams without goals are just mare dreams so therefore, nothing stops the transormers from going for glory. NOTHING STOPS THE HIFL DREAM.
